Private Pilot Training Made Simple

Earning your Private Pilot Certificate (often called a “PPL”) is the first major step to becoming a pilot. It allows you to fly as pilot in command for personal (non-commercial) flying, take friends and family, and build the foundation for advanced ratings.

What training looks like

Most students train with a mix of ground instruction and flight lessons:

• Ground training: aviation basics, weather, airspace, regulations, navigation, and risk management

• Flight training: takeoffs/landings, maneuvers, communications, navigation, emergency procedures, and real-world decision-making

• Milestones: first solo, cross-country flights, written exam, and a final checkride with an FAA examiner

Training pace depends on your schedule and consistency—but with a good plan and regular flying, the process is very doable.
